Roxas, Palawan is a municipality located along the eastern shoreline of the island of Palawan. The municipality comprises of barangays or towns running from South to North from Tinitian to Ilian. Except for New Cuyo and a few other locations inland, towns are connected by beautiful beaches running along its shoreline. Fishing, farming, mining and tourism are some of the industries in these growing towns.
Facing the beach are several green islands and are accessible by local motor boats. One of those islands is a resort which has become popular to local and European tourist.
The original settlers of Roxas, as of other parts of the island of Palawan, came from three smaller islands of Cuyo, Agutaya, and Cagayan. Roxas poblacion formerly known as Del Pilar central, is the capital of the municipality and was first settled by Cagayanos from the island of Cagayan. In subsequent years, settlers from other parts of the Philippines found their home in Roxas. All the different ethnic diversities were able to live together in a peaceful community.
Roxas can be reached from Manila by taking a local airline from Manila to Puerto Princesa, and by bus transportation from Puerto to Roxas Central. Travel time from Manila to Puerto Princesa is just a little over an hour, bus from Puerto to Roxas is about 2 1/2 hours.
